Gary and Mary Ann have been carving since 1990. Retired, they try to balance their time between family, carving, and fishing trips, which Gary calls his “study time”. Beside a busy fish carving teaching schedule they find time to fish and relax with the family, even their grandson, who is also their Web Designer, would take few days off to join them.

The Klinger’s taught at The Doane Experience in Crete, NE, Whapeton Carving Retreat in ND, and various workshops in the Midwest for over 12 years They both have won numerous awards at the Mid-America Woodcarvers Association Shows, with results being shown in Chip Chats Magazine and an article in Carving Magazine.

The Mid America Woodcarvers Association, is very important to them also. Gary, currently the clubs’ Beginner Carving Instructor, served on the MAWA Board, was the clubs’ tool man and was awarded The George Floral Award for Exemplary Service. For over five years Mary Ann was board member and 1st Vice President of the MAWA Board, served as MAWA Fall Show Chairman and served on the Doane Experience Commitee.
